Our Story
HY Cosmetics & Minor Surgery was born from a shared conviction: that the people of south Ottawa deserve world-class surgical and aesthetic care without the drive downtown, the months-long wait, and without compromising on expertise.
We built HY to serve our community. Our clinic is a fully equipped out-of-hospital premise capable of performing minor surgeries under local anaesthesia. For our patients, this means no general anaesthesia required and no having to navigate the maze of hospital scheduling. For referring physicians, we offer something that didn’t exist before in this community: a single destination where skin cancers, benign lesions, and soft tissue concerns across all body areas can be confidently referred, knowing that the combined expertise of a plastic surgeon and a general surgeon has it covered.
Founded by Dr. Yimeng Zhang, a general surgeon and Chief of Surgery at Renfrew Victoria Hospital, and Dr. Haemi Lee, a plastic surgeon at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa, HY brings together two of the region’s most accomplished surgeons under one roof. Both physicians maintain active hospital-based practices while dedicating their combined expertise to this clinic—a testament to their commitment to the highest standard of care.
The name HY is more than initials. It represents the meeting of two surgical disciplines— Haemi’s precision in plastic surgery and Yimeng’s breadth in general surgery. We have created a partnership where every body area is covered, every concern is heard, and every patient is treated with the respect and attention they deserve.

Dr. Haemi Lee
Dr. Haemi Lee grew up in the Ottawa region and maintains strong ties to the local community as a plastic surgeon servicing the Ottawa Southwest and valley. She graduated from medical school and plastic surgery residency at the University of Western Ontario to be qualified as a certified Royal College specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. She completed additional subspecialty training in breast and oncologic microvascular reconstruction in the University of Toronto, at the renowned Sunnybrook Cancer Centre to master surgical techniques in breast and body plastic surgery.
Dr. Yimeng Zhang

Dr. Yimeng Zhang grew up in Waterloo and graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto. She completed her residency at the University of Ottawa and is a board certified General Surgeon. She continued on in independent practice as a community General Surgeon where she became skilled in a broad range of surgical and non-surgical procedures. During this time, she pursued training in aesthetic medicine and added a lifelong interest to her clinical practice. Her scope of practice has been credentialed by the College of Surgeons and Physicians of Ontario.
